Advertisement for NET for JRF/Lectureship

The University Grants Commission announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 30th December 2012 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Lectureship only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship both in Indian universities and colleges in 78 subjects (listed under item no. 9) at 77.


Candidates appearing in NET should clearly specify in the prescribed Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF & Eligibility for Lectureship OR only for Eligibility for Lectureship.

Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Lectureship will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of lecturers of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

Eligibility Conditions: 1.55% marks (without rounding off) and 50% marks for Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with disability (PWD) category candidates in Master’s Degree or its equiavalent.
2.  Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.

3. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

4. Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s) or foreign degree/diploma should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Examination fee : Rs. 450/- through challan downloadable from the advertisement and payable in any branch of the SBI along with the bank charges (commission) of Rs.20/-.

Test Date: 30th December, 2012 (SUNDAY) in two separate sessions
Age Limit: Junior Research Fellowship : 28 years as on 01.12.2012. No upper age limit for lectureship eligibility.
How to apply: Apply Online. Printout of the application form complete in all respects and photograph superscribing “UGC NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AND ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP, DECEMBER, 2012”  on the envelope should reach Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating University/College on or before 22.11.2012

 Last date for submitting Application: Friday; November 16, 2012
Last date for receiving the documents at the Coordinating University : Thursday; November 22, 2012
Examination Date : Sunday; Dec. 30, 2012
